‘Haboob’ to vie at German women filmfest

The Int’l Women’s filmfest Dortmund + Cologne in Germany is to show Iran’s ‘Haboob’.

The International Women’s Film Festival Dortmund + Cologne in Germany has accepted Iranian short animation ‘Haboob’ for screening.

Directed by Mahsa, the 9-minute animation will hit the screen at the Children and Young People section of the German event’s 40th run.

‘Haboob’ tells the story of a man and his daughter, who are accustomed to living in harmony and peace with nature, but some disruptions change their lovely little life.

‘Haboob’ went on screen at some global events, including the World Festival of Animated Film – Animafest Zagreb in Croatia, the Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film in Germany, where it received a special mention, and the Karama Human Rights Film Festival in Jordan, where it won the award for best short animation.

It has also received the award for best animation at the International Earth Film Festival in Iran.

Launched in 2006, the International Women’s Film Festival Dortmund + Cologne is the result of a merge of the Female Cologne and Femme Totale Dortmund.

This year’s fest is planned to be held on March 29- April 03.
